Weekend Update

Had a busy day on Saturday so I elected to clean my car and house Friday rather than go to the gym. Had a few beers Friday night when I had finished.

Saturday found me up early and out the door, with a quick stop for a bite at McDonalds. Later I had lunch at Marinelli's, I didn't eat much, but it was very filling. I bought pizza for the whole gang before the Detroit Derby Girls bout, but I was way too full to have any.

That night at Cobo, I enjoyed a few beers again. I wasn't even hungry till I got home.

The bout was a ton of fun! I yelled, I cheered, I even started a 2 lap wave after Racer McChaseHer helped by informing the announcers. Oh, and before the bout even started, a few of us even ran around in the snow on the Riverfront.

Good times indeed!

Thursday Update

I know I didn't write yesterday but I have had 2 great days. Went to the gym both days and also brought my lunch both days. No pop either! Tomorrow I'll probably grab a lunch out somewhere, as that's a treat for me on Fridays. I have to figure out how I'll make time for the gym on Saturday. We have the memorial for Mark at 11 and then we'll be meeting up to go see the Detroit Derby Girls.

Tuesday

Considering that I woke up thinking today was Saturday, today has gone pretty well. Took a sandwich for lunch and had a couple scrambled eggs for dinner. Completed a half hour on the eliptical and did some strength training at the gym.

Pretty Good Monday

I have to say I did pretty good today. I brought my lunch and ate a salad for dinner. It was about 1576 calories. I also went to the gym today. Half hour on the bike and another half hour on the treadmill for a total of 376 calories burned. :)

Weekly Update

Well, today was going to be the day that I wrote in with my measurements but I still have to find a tape measure and all that and I'm pretty relaxed right now so I'll try for tomorrow.

Other than the measurements, I can at least give you an update on how my week went.

I went to the gym Tuesday through Saturday. According to my Life Fitness Virtual Trainer, during my cardio workouts this week, I burned 1499 calories. I did at least an hour of cardio every day except for the days I did strength training, and on that day I did a half hour. I did different combinations of time on my 3 favorite machines; treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bike. I was told not to do the same thing every time, but with my minor OCD, I came up with a "random" schedule. Day one I do an hour on one machine, day 2 a half hour each on two machines, and day 3 20 minutes on each machine. I just switch up which machine I do each day so there are like 9 different options.

For my strength training, I have been doing a few different things. Lunges, squats, leg press, push-ups. Row machine, lateral pulls, and cross pulls. Some bi-cep curls and leg lifts. I have been rotating these around as well.

Now, I'd tell ya my calorie intake but I was really bad about logging it on my SparkPeople app on my droid. I have a tendency to do that when I eat something I shouldn't or if I go out to eat. I also did strength training on Tuesday and Thursday.

Let's see if I can at least summarize it.
I didn't work on Monday so the BF and I made sandwiches. I made an extra for my lunch on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I took a salad to work. I've also been eating clementines, yogurt, and bran cereal with my lunch. Thursday, I had sushi for lunch and Friday my co-worker and I got unwiches from Jimmy Johns.

I'll admit that over the week I've had a couple of light beers as well as some fast food here and there, probably not the best, but next week is another week to get it right.

Bad Breakfast, Better Lunch

Was pretty hungry when I got up this morning and hadn't packed my lunch like a good girl. Bought a breakfast sandwich from the coney next to work. Prolly not the best idea, but my co-worker and I are going to get a Jimmy John's Unwich for Lunch... so that cancels it out right? Lol

Whomp Whomp

I guess you can call it a loss. I did hit the treadmill, elipticall and bike today for an hour, but I had a few beers and some Mickey D's. Maybe we can call it even. :/

Snack Food

Had a bag of chips today as the lunch I packed was a little on the light side. I should have eaten the raw almonds that are sitting on my desk, but that would be to easy right?

Trying Out My Mobile Blogger App

Thought I would try a new Blogger App that I downloaded to my droid. I am thinking that I can use this app to post quick little updates.

So far today has started out a little rough. No coffee this morning, using a leftover Pepsi from last night to get going.

A New Beginning

Well, here is the new blog. Inspired by a yahoo article I read today, I thought I would try to blog my weight loss challenges and goals. From what I read, you have to be brutally honest about this stuff, so here goes it:

My name is Jennifer and at the start of the new year I weighed 186.6 pounds. I currently wear an extra large shirt and size 16 pants. I am approximately 5'3".

On Monday, January 3rd, I canceled my gym membership at Snap Fitness and joined the new Burn Fitness that is closer to my house. They have new high-tech machines that have made working out a bit funner, being the geek that I am. I love that I can plug my iPod and jump drive right into the elliptical, treadmill and stationary bikes. I can control my iPod through the controls on the machine all the while recording my workout stats on my jump drive.

With my new membership, I got a deal on two personal trainer sessions. I met with her on two different Fridays. Both times I can say I got my butt kicked, but I did pick up some pointers and some new workouts. The trainer suggested that I do an hour of cardio at least four times a week, and be sure to include some strength training.

Along with the new gym membership, I have also been eating better, for the most part. I have been bringing my lunch to work and have been trying to cut out the soda. I don't like diet soda so that isn't an option. Over the past few years, the boyfriend and I have been cutting out more and more of our processed foods and opting to cook things using whole foods. Where possible, I also try to consume organic foods.

Unfortunately, I have a few weaknesses when it comes to food:
  • I love Pepsi - I have stopped purchasing the drink for my home, and try to only drink fountain soda when I am out.
  • I love beer - I don't drink daily, and I don't consume a lot, but I do like to drink once or twice a week.
  • I love bar food - Anything deep fried is my friend.
  • I eat when I am bored.
I can't say that I am not active, as I love to walk my dog, in the summer at least. One of my hurdles will be convincing myself to still go to the gym on the days I'd rather skip it and walk the dog. I will have to work out a way to do both.

With this blog I want to do a few things:
  • Record my daily calorie intake, and calories burned.
  • List my daily workouts.
  • Record my weight loss in pounds and inches.
  • Share my thoughts and feelings.
  • Be honest about my downfalls, and remind myself of my positive results.
  • Keep myself motivated.
With that all being said, I will try to post weekly of how I am doing. Please feel free to leave me comments, as I will appreciate any feedback I can get!
